Improving search

Character String optimized method: To common data type, the system uses keywords to search. The combination of search phase supports:

  • OR: Use OR when at least one of the terms must appear. Format: blank + ‘OR’ + blank (‘OR’ must be capitalization)

  • Wildcard Character: Using wildcard character lets you easily eliminate search words, making your search simpler. Use an asterisk (*) to replace characters anywhere in a word, except the first character. E.g. canc*, jour* etc. (Only * as wildcard character is supported in our system)

  • Not: Put ‘-‘at the front of a term to exclude it. A blank is needed ahead of ‘-‘.

  • Phrase search: You could use phrase with quotation marks to search. The phrase in the quotation marks will be found in the search document as a whole. This method is specially used when searching epigram or proper noun.

  • Some characters could be used as truncation. E.g. ‘-‘、’\’、’.’、’=’ and ‘...’ etc.
